I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now, but originally it was going to be something small. I spent three years trying to come up with a design that I could live with for the rest of my life, and when I did, the design grew into a major work. Since I love Star Trek so much, I decided that I would get something to do with that. The hard part was then deciding what I wanted out of so many wonderful images! I finally settled on portraits of three characters that meant a lot to me (Lt Cmdr Data, Cmdr Trip Tucker and Lt Malcolm Reed), and also my favourite ship (The Enterprise NCC-1701D). Since then I have been slowly adding to my design. I have added portraits to each arm, and will be filling in the back with various Star Trek stuff to create a full back piece and sleeves as well. I have also expanded my fandoms on my skin. My right forearm will be Stargate, and my left forearm will be Lord of the Rings.
Now that I had settled on the design, the next step was to find a tattooist that would do the work for me. I bought some Tattoo magazines and asked friends who had tattoos for recommendations. My problem was that a lot of Tattoo artists don't like to do portraits. Every magazine had an advertisement for Bodyart Tattoo Studio in Panania, and as I spent 27 years of my life living there, I decided to go and see them about it. I was glad that I did! George is the artist who is doing my work, and I am very happy with what he has done.
Below are the pictures of my tattoos. I will update the page as each section gets done so that you can see the wonderful results. The Star Trek Photos were taken on my old digital camera which was only a 1.3 megapixel camera. My current camera is 5 megapixels, so should be better quality.
